What Is Crystal Drops

Crystal Drops is a coined word to name a process of applying a thick Polyurethane two part resin onto a substrate material. This resin is a 100% solids mixture of an Polyol resin and a catalytic resin called Isocyanate. The catalyst is a very small % of active agent in a polyol base.

By controlling the ratio of the mix at either 1:2 or 1:1 the properly mixed result will cross link and become solid. The unique properties of this resin is that it will become crystal clear like glass but retains a soft three dimensional “dome” over the substrate. This dome is about 0.060” (1.5 mm) thick with a rounded edge formed by the surface tension of the resin itself. Most important property of this CRYSTAL DROPS resin is that it is UV resistant more so than most catalyzed resins. Color-Dec International guarantees that the outdoor ( exterior) grade resin will not yellow or crack in 5 yr. of outdoor exposure. In reality it is a UV screen that protects the design underneath the Crystal Drops resin. The resiliency of the resin provides and unusual resistance to scuffing, scratching or denting.

Various grades of hardness are available in either the 1:1 or 1:2 to suit your needs. Check the resin specifications page to review the properties of each grade.
